Moxie MusingsIssue #010 |
Can I tell you the truth, Reader I hadn’t been doing a great job on social media lately. Over the past year or so, my content had been helpful, yes, but not super engaging. Why? Because I was nowhere to be seen. Now granted, over the past year, I’ve been ~going through some shit~ to put it lightly. (I’m fine, but my health has been a mess!) So it makes sense that I haven’t really been as present as I might have been previously, when I haven’t been 100% myself. But I want to engage. I want to connect with my audience. I want to be myself. And most of all, as someone who teaches other people about building their brands, I want to show you that it’s okay to show up as exactly who you are! So I made a choice. I was going to put the personal back in my personal brand. I was going to let people see the human behind the brand. I was going to share the Maker behind Maker & Moxie. So I started off with the basics and got deeper and braver from there.
Plus, I’ve been sharing more and more snippets of my life and thoughts on my Stories and on Threads. These posts have been the most liked, commented on, replied to, shared, and generally engaged with posts I’ve created in the longest time. And it's been just the reminder I needed to practice what I preach. I’ve recorded podcast episodes like this one all about how you are your brand’s best asset, but sometimes it’s easy to forget that as you’re going about your day-to-day, especially if you’re not feeling like the perfect, camera-ready, successful social media legend that you feel like you need to be to show up online. So I hope this serves as a reminder to you, that if you’re struggling to connect with your audience on social media, maybe it's time to put a bit more of the personal back into your personal brand? Even if that person isn’t perfect. Often especially if that person isn’t perfect. Because no person is perfect. And people connect with people. So therefore, imperfect people connect with imperfect people, and we’re all just trying to find the fellow imperfect people who get us. Maybe I’ve just found mine in you! – Hollie :) More Musings from this monthMakers on my mindMore Magic
